Position: Postdoctoral Researcher
DAAD Fellow 2015-present
Born & Raised: Leipzig, Germany
Education & previous employment: PhD in Biology (Dresden University of Technology) with a background in biochemistry. During my Diploma thesis I studied ancient DNA damage using next-generation sequencing. For my PhD studies I switched field and investigated when and how transcription is turned on during embryogenesis.
Project Focus/ Scientific interests: Developmental roles of DNA- and chromatin modifiers in organism growth. I am especially intrigued by the question how fast proliferating cells during embryogenesis coordinate gene expression, chromatin organization and replication. These cellular processes have important roles in regulating organism growth.
Outside interests: travelling (I try to visit as many of the highest waterfalls on earth as possible), Badminton, reading
