Position: Research Technician
Born & Raised: The Lake District!
Education & previous employment: BSc in Genetics (University of Glasgow), MRes in Molecular Genetics (University of Nottingham), working on the role of Kelch phosphatase in Malaria development. My first job as a research assistant was for Louise Bicknell in the Jackon lab working on exome sequencing and the functional analysis of mutations in patients with microcephaly and reduced stature.
Project Focus/ Scientific interests: I’ve now moved from PD to AGS and work for Karen Mackenzie, helping to understand the mechanisms underlying inflammation in AGS.
Outside interests: Hill walking/snow sports/water-sports, running (or anything outdoorsy, love a mountain), eating chocolate (for breakfast), Pink, anything pink. Reading, Cats, cat videos, cat pictures and stories about cats. Family and friends, travelling, new foods. Gin and tonic. Crafts, sewing, art. Labelling things with my label maker.
